Manhattan is located in the southwest of the state of New York which is 22 miles long and 2 miles wide surrounded by the Hudson river on the west side and the East River on the east side.
Manhattan is one of the oldest and the most occupied city. It exhibits diversity ethnically, religiously, economically and racially. Manhattan was the first place colonized by the Europeans on the southeastern tip of the Island in 1642.
It was the first capital of the United States and recognized as the greatest port in the world for many decades. It is one of the five famous burroughs of New York City and accommodates some of the world’s most famous landmarks.
The population of Manhattan is 1,537,195 as per the 2000 census. Manhattan is in the Central Time Zone which is six hours behind the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
